We belong to the Father, and the Father belongs to us

June 22, Thursday of the 11th week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings:2 Corinthians 11:1-11; Gospel: Mathew: 6:7-15

God in the Old Testament is known as Yahweh, meaning I am who I am. He pronounces himself loving, forgiving, and slow to anger.
In the New Testament, God sent his only son, as we have heard in the gospel of St. John 3: 16. We have come to know God through Jesus Christ, for he came forth from the Father. Jesus introduced us to God as a Father as he taught his disciples the Lord’s Prayer, passed from generation to generation.

It begins with the word “Our Father” It calls us to a new way of relating to God as His children. It says that we belong to the Father, who belongs to us not as our possession but as someone we can universally turn to, no matter what race or nationality one belongs to. We invoke God as our Father daily, yet we might fall into a routine and lose its essence.

It is good that we examine and ask ourselves frequently. How do I pray the Lord’s Prayer? May we pray it slowly, savoring every single word in it?

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
