Consider ourselves disciples in the modern era. Face obstacles. We glorify God by being good in all that we do. However, we do what we are doing out of love for one another.

While there are numerous distractions, there are also multiple ways to be a disciple. Technology and social media make it simple for us to "modernize" the way we share the Gospel.

Previously, the apostles had to travel long distances and speak in front of large crowds.

However, becoming a disciple of Jesus is not an easy task. Even today, despite the many distractions that the world provides, a disciple should be able to focus on his mission: to spread the Gospel message.

Paul and Barnabas told the other disciples, "We have to go through many hard times to get into God's kingdom."

And when we read the Gospel, we are reminded of the importance of love. However, this time has something to do with our role as disciples. "If you have a love for one another, everyone will know you are my disciples."

Every one of us plays a unique role in life. You could be serving in a church, or you may be a parent, a child, a grandparent, a priest, a student, a frontline, a construction worker, a chef, or anything else.

This, however, does not prevent us from doing what Christ expects of us: love. The love of a parent will aid in the raising of good children. Children who are loved will grow up to be good parents.

Frontliners continue to care for patients who are not related to them. Students will be inspired to do their best after spending time in a teacher’s classroom.

Whatever we do, we must do it with love, or else everything will fall apart.

The apostles themselves were persecuted; they were not always welcomed in the places they visited. However, they continued with the mission because of their faith and love in their hearts.

This is also true for us. Let us consider ourselves modern-day disciples. Whatever we do will not be easy. We will face difficulties.

But, because we love each other, do what we do, and do it out of love for others. We glorify God by being good in everything we do.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
