The Bangladesh Rehabilitation and Assistance Center for Addicts (BARACA), a church-run organization, won a State Award for drug addiction treatment and rehabilitation services on the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
Archbishop Kavin Randall, Apostolic Nuncio, visited a Catholic-run de-addiction center, the Bangladesh Rehabilitation and Assistance Center for Addicts (BARACA), on April 25.
"Thank God that BARACA staff rescued me and enabled me to reinvent myself through the rehabilitation program," said Moni, a boy who wandered into Dhaka from his village to earn money, but became a drug addict in a short time.
