Episcopal ordination

On Feb11, thousands of faithful filled the Cathedral Church of Larantuka Diocese in East Flores Island of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province, Indonesia, to witness the episcopal ordination Father Yohanes Hans Monteiro as the Bishop of Larantuka – in the very church where he received Baptism, First Communion, Reconciliation, Confirmation, and priestly ordination.

At the episcopal ordination of Bp. Samuel Naceno Agcaracar, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle reflected on the bishop’s mission as service to the whole Church—rooted in apostolic mission, lived authority through humility, and a calling to foster communion among all peoples.

The Catholic Diocese of Xinxiang, located in Henan Province, central China, celebrated a significant moment in its ecclesial life with the episcopal ordination of Bishop Li Jianlin on December 5, 2025, at Nammenli Catholic Church in Weihui City.

Fr. Simião Purificação Fernandes was ordained as Bishop by Archbishop Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrão, Archbishop of Goa and Daman during the Eucharistic celebration held at Se Cathedral on June 17.

The episcopal ordination of Bishop Wang Yuesheng of the Diocese of Zhengzhou was held at the Catholic Church on Qinghuayuan Road, Huiji District, Zhengzhou City, China, on January 25.

"I hoped that the chosen Bishop of Tanjung Karang diocese would become a trustworthy fisherman for humans," said Bishop Vitus Rubianto Solichin, SX of Padang.
