The Catholic Church of Sri Lanka has formally commended the government’s decision to provide humanitarian assistance to Iranian naval personnel following a recent maritime disaster off the southern coast.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul seeks to deepen the spiritual lives of its members and bear witness to Christ by sharing love with those who suffer. Its mission is to fight poverty, alleviate suffering, and serve all people regardless of caste, creed, color, or origin.

During Sunday Mass on July 13, at the Parish of St. Thomas of Villanova in Castel Gandolfo, Pope Leo XIV reflected on the Parable of the Good Samaritan, calling on the faithful to imitate Christ’s compassion and love.
