Reflection Date: September 3, 2021
In today's Gospel, it is observed that while John's disciples and the Pharisees fast often, Jesus' disciples eat and drink. Jesus replies to them that people do not fast when the bridegroom is with them.
Reflect, today, upon your practice of fasting, as well as every other opportunity you have each day to make silent and interior sacrifices to God. If you do suffer from some daily cross that is beyond your control, then try to turn it into a spiritual offering to our Lord.
They were invited by Jesus to follow in His footsteps and to courageously give their lives in a sacrificial way for the love of others. They were to abandon all fear and were to be ready and willing to say “Yes” to their own crosses as they sought to serve Christ and His mission.
