On August 28, 2025, Pope Leo XIV appointed an Indonesian bishop as one of the members of the
Vatican’s Dicastery for the Clergy, which is headed by South Korean Cardinal Lazarus You Heung-sik.
Pope Francis has established the Diocese of Labuan Bajo in West Manggarai, Flores, Indonesia, following extensive preparation by Bishop Siprianus Hormat, local priests, and the faithful.
"The chapel that has been blessed is a summary of faith in the love and compassion of people. This chapel represents the faith of many individuals," said Bishop Siprianus Hormat.
"Let us create a cool, comfortable, and joyful atmosphere for the 11 ASEAN heads of state, their delegations, and all visiting tourists," Said Bishop Siprianus Hormat stated in a pastoral speech on May 6.
