Philippines National Marian Shrine in Antipolo City received an invitation from the Vatican to join Pope in praying the rosary with other Marian Shrines worldwide on the Ascension Sunday, May 31.

The Pontifical Council for the Promotion of New Evangelization on May 26 invited the National Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage to participate in the worldwide praying of the Rosary at the end of May.

Pope Francis will pray Rosary in front of the statue of Mary Regina Pacis (Queen of Peace) at the Basilica of St. Mary Major in Rome at 6:00 in the evening (local time) on May 31.

It will be 12:00 AM on June 1 in the Philippines because the Philippines’ time is 6 hours ahead of Rome, Italy.

The event will be a live broadcast at the said time.

Pope invites all to join in praying the Rosary as a sign of hope for all the victims of war in Ukraine and all over the world.

"All the faithful in every part of the world are invited to support Pope Francis in his prayer to the Queen of Peace," the Vatican statement encouraged.

The National Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage in Antipolo City, near Manila, is also known as Antipolo Cathedral because the 17th-century wooden statue of Mary was enshrined in the Antipolo Cathedral.

A statement from the Philippines Marian shrine exhorted, “We want to invite everyone to pray the Holy Rosary and spread this initiative of the Holy Father who desires to express his closeness to each country involved in conflict and war.”

Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage was also known as the Virgin of Antipolo and Our Lady of Antipolo.

“Together, let us pray the Rosary for Peace with the Virgin of Antipolo and Pope Francis who will be praying inside the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in front of Mary, Regina Pacis,” the statement said.

On May 7, 2021, the Antipolo Cathedral was included among the 30 Marian Shrines around the world to participate each day in the online rosary as a part of the Pope called “May prayer Marathon” for an end the Covid-19 pandemic at 6:00 in the evening in Rome.
