Pope prays for Ischia flood victims in Italy

Pope Francis prayed for Ischia flood victims in Italy at the traditional Angelus on Sunday to the audience at St. Peter’s Square.

“I am praying for the victims, for those who are suffering, and for those who are involved in the rescue,” the Pope said.

The Pope offered his nearness to the Ischia flood victims.

He asked the pilgrims to pray for the victims of the Ischia flood victims.

The heavy rain caused a landslide that flooded homes and swept away cars at Ischia Island near Naples in Italy on early Saturday morning.

Aljazeera news agency reported at least seven people including an infant and two children were killed after the torrential rain and landslide in Ischia, Italy.

Naples Prefect Claudio Palomba told that five people were still missing at the news conference on Sunday.

In a statement on Sunday, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni declared a state of emergency because of the “exceptional flood and landslide events.”
