Vatican updates official website with modern design

The Holy See’s official website, Vatican.va, has launched a new look as of May 29, 2025, introducing a fresh, modern design aimed at making papal teachings more accessible to people around the world.
The Dicastery for Communication, which oversees the project, described the update as part of a broader effort to present the Papal Magisterium and the spiritual heart of the Church in a clearer, user-friendly format.
The redesigned homepage offers improved navigation, allowing visitors to easily explore teachings from Pope Leo XIV and his predecessors. This update is the first step in a multi-phase editorial and development project intended to preserve and renew the site's vast historical content, which has been online since 1995.
Behind the redesign is Peruvian graphic designer Juan Carlos Yto of TMB.Lab, an alumnus of the Dicastery’s “Faith Communication in the Digital World” program.
He envisioned the design to reflect the Church’s open arms—drawing inspiration from Bernini’s elliptical design of St. Peter’s Square.
Optimized for mobile browsing, the new Vatican.va features larger images, a more intuitive interface, and a color palette inspired by Roman skies and travertine stone, with golden highlights representing divine light.
The project continues to involve diverse teams, including the Documentation Group and the Dicastery’s informatics department, to ensure accessibility and structure across the site.
With this new look, the Vatican reaffirms its commitment to digital eva
