Cardinal Michael Felix Arrives in Bangladesh on Pastoral Visit to Promote Integral Human Development
Cardinal Michael Felix, SJ, Prefect of the Vatican Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, arrived in Bangladesh on November 1 for a pastoral visit.
To mark his arrival, a reception was held in the evening at the Archbishop’s House in Kakrail, Dhaka, where he was warmly greeted with flowers.
Archbishop Bejoy N. D’Cruze, OMI, of Dhaka, extended a heartfelt welcome to the Cardinal on behalf of the Church in Bangladesh.
“I wish Cardinal Michael every success in his pastoral visit,” Archbishop D’Cruze said. “I am confident that his presence will be a blessing for the Catholic community in Bangladesh. I believe his visit will inspire our Church to be even more committed to integral human development.”
Speaking to journalists, Cardinal Michael Felix, SJ, said, “This is a pastoral visit, and I am very happy to be here in Bangladesh. During my time here, I will meet Church leaders and those working with migrants.”
He added, “I will also meet migrants, people living on the streets, and those who are in deep need of God’s mercy and consolation.”
“The main theme of this visit,” the Cardinal continued, “is to inspire hope in fostering a culture of care. This year, we are celebrating the Jubilee of Hope. I am truly delighted to be in Bangladesh and to witness how people share hope and move forward toward greater hope.”
Among those present at the reception were Cardinal Patrick D’Rozario, CSC; Bishop Gervas Rozario of Rajshahi; Dr. Benedict Alo D’Rozario, President of Caritas Asia; Antonio Alessandro, Ambassador of Italy to Bangladesh; and several other distinguished guests.
Cardinal Michael Felix, SJ, will visit Dhaka and Cox’s Bazar from November 1 to 5, 2025, where he will meet with migrants and those engaged in their pastoral care.
