Meghalaya CM attends Pope Francis' Funeral in Vatican

An official confirmed on April 29 that Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma attended Pope Francis's funeral at St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City.
The funeral was held on April 26 at 10 a.m., as announced by the College of Cardinals.
An official stated that the Chief Minister, who had met Pope Francis in 2022, reached New Delhi en route to the Vatican to participate in the solemn ceremony. Among the global dignitaries who attended were U.S. President Donald Trump and others.
In honor of the late pontiff, the government of Christian-majority Meghalaya declared a period of state mourning.
The Archbishop of Shillong, Victor Lyngdoh, issued guidelines for observance across all Catholic parishes and institutions in the state.
A special memorial Mass was celebrated at the Cathedral Church in Shillong on Tuesday.
