Myanmar: Archdiocese Organizes Seminar for Clergy and Nuns on Child Protection

The Catholic Archdiocese of Mandalay, in northern Myanmar, organized a three-day seminar from July 15 to 17 focused on the safeguarding of minors and vulnerable adults for priests and nuns.

The event was held at the Mandalay Theathana Pyin Oo Lwin Camp, Don Bosco Dhamma Avenue School.

Organized in a workshop format, with both input sessions and hands-on training, the seminar proved highly beneficial for the religious priests and nuns of the archdiocese who attended.

Fr. Hein Zaw, a member of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (PIME) and the Mandalay Diocesan Safeguarding Team, led the training.

“The training enlightened us on various aspects of the protection of children and adults in the Church and society,” said Father Mark U Tin Win, a participant.

“I am encouraged to use the knowledge I gained from the course to share with others,” he added.

The enthusiastic participation of the clergy and nuns is a testament to the Archdiocese of Mandalay’s commitment to protecting minors and creating a safe environment for the vulnerable.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
