New Transmitter Site of Philippine Catholic Radio Station Inaugurated
Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula expressed hope that DZRV-Radio Veritas Philippines will continue to expand its mission of spreading the Good News, not only within the country but also to audiences worldwide.
He shared this message during the inauguration and blessing of the station’s new transmitter site in Longos, Meycauayan, Bulacan, on September 8, the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
“With this facility, we can better fulfill our mission and duty to spread the Good News of the Lord not only within the Archdiocese of Manila but also to far-reaching areas of the country and the rest of the world,” Cardinal Advincula said.
The cardinal also linked the event to the recent canonization of St. Carlo Acutis, the first millennial saint and patron of the internet, stressing that modern communication remains a powerful tool for evangelization.
Fr. Roy Bellen, President and Chief Executive Officer of DZRV, described the new facility as both a challenge and a renewed commitment for the Church’s media ministry.
“This new transmitter site is our bold statement and testament to continue the mission of Radio Veritas in bringing the Gospel to every corner of the world, especially to the local Church in the Philippines. We commit to maximizing media use in the call of new evangelization,” he said.
Since its founding in 1969, Radio Veritas has been regarded as the “voice of the Catholic Church” in the Philippines, playing a vital role in key moments of the nation’s history. The station’s new transmitter site will strengthen its broadcast capacity as it continues to participate in the Church’s mission of proclaiming the Gospel across Asia and beyond.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
