The Northern Regional Family Commission of the Catholic Church in India launched a new website on September 24 to provide pastoral resources and support for couples and families across the region.
Archbishop Anil J. T. Couto of Delhi officially launched the website at Archbishop’s House in New Delhi, the capital of India, in the presence of Auxiliary Bishop Deepak Valerian Tauro of Delhi, Fr. George Manimala, regional executive secretary of the Family Commission, and members of the commission and the website development team.
Blessing the initiative, Archbishop Couto described the website as a timely response to the need to accompany families in an increasingly digital age.
He said families today are seeking authentic guidance and expressed hope that the website would serve as a “sign of hope” and a companion to families throughout their journey.
Bishop Tauro welcomed the initiative, highlighting its user-friendly design and pastoral focus. He said the website could provide a useful means of reaching young people and families across the region.
A key feature of the website is its resources section, launched during the 10th year of Amoris Laetitia (The Joy of Love), Pope Francis’ 2016 apostolic exhortation on love in the family.
The resources are designed to accompany couples at different stages of family life, including those preparing for marriage, couples in the early years of marriage, middle-aged couples and those in later life.
The section includes reflections, prayers and formation materials intended to help couples deepen their understanding of Christian marriage and live out the vocation of family life in their daily lives.
The initiative reflects the call of Pope Francis to make the parish a “family of families,” with pastoral care extending beyond sacramental preparation to the continuing accompaniment of married couples and families.
The website also plans to collaborate with Catholic Connect Matrimony, a Catholic matrimonial platform, to assist young Catholic men and women seeking suitable partners for sacramental marriage.
Fr. Manimala thanked Archbishop Couto for his encouragement and the website designers, Shubham and Kalpana Raymond, for their work in developing the platform.
He expressed hope that the website would develop into a pastoral hub serving families and parishes across the Northern Region.
The Northern Regional Family Commission serves the Catholic Church’s pastoral ministry to families in northern India, a region that includes the national capital and several states with diverse social, cultural and religious communities.
The new website is intended to make family formation resources more accessible to parishes and families throughout the region and to extend pastoral accompaniment into the digital space.
