The International Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage in the Philippines will join Pope Leo XIV in a worldwide Rosary prayer for peace on May 30, according to reports from Vatican News.

The Marian prayer event will take place at the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes in the Vatican Gardens at 7:00 p.m. Rome time, marking the conclusion of the month dedicated to Mary.

Pope Leo XIV will preside over the recitation of the Holy Rosary and invite Catholics and Marian shrines around the world to participate in prayer for people affected by war and violence.

Located in Antipolo City, east of Manila on the island of Luzon, the International Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage is one of the Philippines’ most visited Catholic pilgrimage sites. The shrine is widely known for its devotion to the Virgin Mary and annual pilgrimages attended by thousands of Filipino Catholics.

According to Vatican News, the Antipolo shrine is among several major international shrines that confirmed participation in the global Rosary initiative. Other participating shrines include Marian centers in Ukraine, Portugal, Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, Lebanon, and Italy.

The Pope will lead the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary, with each decade dedicated to people suffering from the effects of war. The intentions include prayers for victims of violence, humanitarian workers, medical personnel, prisoners, and efforts toward lasting peace.

The first mystery will focus on victims of war, especially vulnerable populations. The second will pray for those bringing spiritual support and hope to affected communities. The third mystery will remember medical workers and humanitarian volunteers serving in conflict areas.

The fourth mystery will pray for prisoners and people subjected to violence and humiliation, while the fifth will focus on an end to war and the establishment of peace worldwide.

Throughout his pontificate, Pope Leo XIV has repeatedly appealed for peace and encouraged prayer for countries experiencing conflict.

The prayer initiative is being organized by the Dicastery for Evangelization’s Section for Fundamental Questions regarding Evangelization in the World, Vatican News reported.
