SVD Launches 150th Anniversary Documentary Video`

The 150th Anniversary Documentary Video of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD), dubbed “Witnessing to the Light From Everywhere For Everyone”, was launched via Zoom on August 15.
The 17-minute special project was initiated by Fr. Modeste, former Communications Coordinator of the SVD, and brought to life through the skill and dedication of Fr. Lukaz and the Verbo Films team, who led the editing process.
“More than a film, it is a living testimony of God’s faithfulness and our shared journey of mission, communion, and witness over 150 years,” said Fr. Kasmir Nema, SVD Generalate Communications Coordinator, in a statement from Indore, India.
He said that the SVD has crossed cultures, languages, and borders to proclaim the Good News and build communities of hope starting 1875.
The documentary brings together missionary narratives from the SVD’s four zones, ASPAC (Asia-Pacific), PANAM (North and South America), EUROPE, and AFRAM (Africa and Madagascar), showing the diverse yet united face of our congregation.
The video production team expressed their gratitude to the SVD Communication Centers worldwide for generously contributing video materials that make these stories vivid and authentic.
“Within these images and voices, you will see not only the faces of our missionaries but also the lives of the people we serve, their struggles, hopes, and transformations. These are stories of dialogue, bridges built between peoples, and seeds of the Gospel planted in every corner of the earth,” said Fr. Kasmir.
He added: “As we celebrate this milestone, may this video renew our commitment to be witnessing the light, from everywhere, for everyone. May it inspire us to continue our journey with courage, creativity, and deep communion.”
On behalf of all who made the production possible, Fr. Kasmir invited everyone to watch, share, and let these stories rekindle the missionary fire that has burned in the hearts of Divine Word Missionaries for 150, thanking everyone - the SVD Father General, general councils, confreres, mission partners, and friends - for the gift of mission.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
