Thai prime minister pays tribute to Pope Francis

Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra paid tribute to Pope Francis during her visit to the Apostolic Nunciature in Thailand on May 1, 2025.

On May 1, 2025, the Apostolic Nunciature in Thailand was deeply honored to welcome the Prime Minister of Thailand, Ms. Paentongtarn Shinawatra, who visited to sign the Book of Condolence and pay her respects to the memory of Pope Francis.

Apostolic Nuncio to Thailand, Archbishop Peter Bryan Wells, and the staff welcomed Shinawatra.

She offered floral tributes to the image of Pope Francis, who died on April 1 at 88 in the Vatican and was buried on April 26.

Shinawatra also held a brief interaction with Wells and the staff at the Apostolic Nunciature Thailand.

The Vatican Embassy in Bangkok profoundly appreciated this meaningful gesture and the many expressions of sympathy from the Kingdom of Thailand towards the Holy See and the Catholic Church during this time.
