Worldwide Marriage Encounter (WWME) held a meeting in Surabaya, Indonesia, from October 30 to November 6.

The goal of the conference was to encourage more service, which is in line with the WWME's vision and mission.

Representatives from six secretariats—Asia, Pan-Africa, Europe, Latin America, North America and the Caribbean, and the Pacific Islands—attended the regular meeting, which was called the World Council Meeting (WCM).

Christ and Lely, the Indonesian National Coordinators of Marriage Encounter (ME), said that the Indonesian ME community used the WWME as a chance to meet with delegates and restore the purity of service in line with the movement's vision and mission.

WWME is a movement of the Catholic Church whose goal is to help married people have better relationships.

For more than 50 years, Worldwide Marriage Encounter has helped over 3.5 million couples in almost 100 countries unlock the power of their relationships to be the most loving and thriving couples they can be.

This international movement is led by the International Ecclesial Team (IET) or the World Coordinator and has a structure similar to that of the Catholic Church.

According to the meeting's organizers, at the WCM, each participant discussed the development and need for ME services in their respective nations.

"Delegates share experiences and knowledge and debate key concerns," the meeting organizers said, adding that "Member countries make the best decisions for the development and progress of the movement as a whole."

Before the World Council Meeting was implemented, each district and region sent a report detailing the community status in their area, as well as the actions taken within a particular time frame, said the organizers.

"These include the joys and worries, the problems faced, the need to carry out the mission, etc., that are related to the WWME movement," said the persons in charge of the event.

Christ and Lely said, in their statement, that the WWME movement should stay the same as the Catholic Church movement. During the conference, people shared their experiences and ideas based on statistics from their own countries. They also discussed Pope Francis' marriage-related directives.

"The WCM's decisions would be shared with member countries through their own secretariats", the statement said, adding that "Officials from each country would send it to the districts and regions, all the way down to the parish level, for distribution to the smallest community organization."

In 2022, after 10 years since Indonesia hosted the WCM event in Puncak, it was again trusted as the host of the event.
