India: Women top the first Gospel Singer Reality Show competition

Winners of Atmadarshan Gospel Singer Reality Show: Lynette John, from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, topped the gospel singer reality show. Jyothi from Bhilai and Garima Ekka from Raipur stood second and third, respectively.

Atmadarshan, a popular Church TV channel of North India concluded the first Gospel Singer Reality Show in Indore.  Lynette John, a mother and an English music teacher from Lucknow notched the top position in the competition.

S. Jyoti form Bhilai stood second and Garima Ekka from Raipur stood third in the competition.

250 Christian singers from 30 Catholic dioceses participated in both online and offline auditions.

After two rounds and two semi-finals, the final mega reality show was held on October 26 at Atmadharshan, Indore, the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh in central India.

There were 11 participants in the final round. All the singers had exceptional talent in singing and music.

It is the first time in history that a Catholic-owned channel in central India has taken the initiative to bring all the singers together on one platform.

Father Anand Chirayath, the founder-director of the Atmadarshan Foundation, said that it was his dream to provide a platform for the church choir. It was time to recognize the people who sing for Christ.

The Atmadarshan team, under the leadership of Father Selvin Ignatius, assistant director of Atmadarshan, took an extensive journey in central India for the auditions in April and May. 

Atmadarshan team travelled almost 6000km and conducted auditions in fifteen major cities of eight North Indian states. From the initial 250participants, 50 were selected for the first round which was held from 23 to 27 May in Atmadarshan, Indore. The Second Round was held on 13 and 14 of August.

The semi-finals and final rounds were conducted in October.

Father Stanly Kozhichira, president of SIGNIS Asia, attended the final round of the reality show and praised Atmadharshan's initiative. 

Some of the renowned Catholic, Non-Catholic and Non-Christian musicians who have enriched the North Indian Christianity were also felicitated in the Show.

Sr. Pushpanjali SSpS (Bhopal), Mr. Dilip Bose (Bhopal), Fr. Deepak Suliya SVD (Indore), Fr. Maria Stephan (Bhopal), Mr. Peter Jamra (Indore), Fr. Jose (Raipur), Mr. Benjamin Ninama (Jhabua), Fr. Clarence SVD(Indore), Fr. Norbert Hermon SVD (Udaipur) and Mr. Michael Peria (Hyderabad) were also felicitated in the Reality Show.

The Chief Guest, Fr. Stanley (President Signis Asia) hailed the enormous services of Atmadarshan. He also praised the quality of the content produced by Atmadarshan.
