Madha TV, South Indian Catholic Channel, completes 8 years

Bishop Emeritus Sebastianappan Singaroyan of Salem, the Tamil Nadu Bishop's Council Commission for Social Communications chairman, celebrated the eighth anniversary of Madha Television in South India on February 11.

Madha Television, under the banner of Santhome Communication Centre, caters to the spiritual needs of Tamil Christians around the world.

Santhome Communication Centre is the Regional Communications Centre of the Tamil Nadu Bishops' Council (TNBC). The Centre strives to communicate the message of the Kingdom of God in every family. It promotes moral, social, and ethical values through media according to the values of Christ.

Bishop Emeritus Singarayan blessed the Santhome Studios. Dolly Atmos mixing studio and Preview Theatre was opened by Immanuel Vasanth Dinakaran, the Indian Music Director and a singer from Tamilnadu.

Prominent personalities like Krishnaraj, a celebrated music director in the Indian film industry, Jollee Abraham, a gospel singer and actress in Malayalam cinema, and Father David Arockiam, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Madha Television, were present during the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Immanuel Vasanth Dinakaran, the music director, expressed, “the Mixing Studio, Preview Theatre and Recording Studio are updated with high-definition that will suit the current situation. It will help our people reach God.”

Krishnaraj, Music Director, shared his experience about the privileges he received from the Santhome Communication Centre. He acknowledged that Santhome Communication Centre provided him opportunities to reach a higher position in the industry.

“With the blessings of God, Madha Television has been serving the people with their spiritual needs for the last eight years. The values of Christianity are propagated among people. Sincere thanks to all the bishops, priests, religious people, and donors who are supporting Madha Television,” said Father David Arockiam. 

Tamil Nadu Bishops' Council announced the launch of a Catholic satellite television network called Madha TV in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary on January 27, 2012.

Madha Media Renaissance was established as a private limited company to facilitate the satellite television venture mandated by the Indian Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Affairs department.

On February 11, 2014, the Tamil Nadu Bishops with dedicated support from priests, religious, and parishioners, launched Madha TV, a first of its kind in Tamil Nadu Catholic Church (the first of its kind).

The Centre was developed due to natural disasters, such as flooding. With the guidance of Father David Arockiam, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Madha Television, the other four priests were Father Adaikala Raj, General Manager of Program, Father Jackson, General Manager of Technical. Father Albert, General Manager of Post Production and Father Gopi Immanuel, General Manager of Promotion.

Santhome Communication Centre produces regular programs for Radio Veritas Asia Tamil Service, Radio Vatican, and All-India Radio.

The programs are aired globally to all the Tamil-speaking people, providing quality input to the catechizing and development mission of the Tamil Nadu Catholic Church.

Madha TV in the process has become a prophetic voice of truth, justice, peace,  and dialogue.

 

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
