In the archdiocese of Imphal, St. Mary Church discovered challenges of catechizing Catholic children in the villages in the absence of religious nuns and the distance of the village from the parish church.

The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) resolved to cater to the catechism needs of the villages differently but with a standard syllabus.

The PPC prepared catechism textbooks for classes 1-6 in the Kuki language. PPC also annually organizes catechism training for teachers.

PPC resolved to have catechism boards and catechism classrooms in the villages. Each village will have at least three classrooms for catechism, even if it involves delaying the church construction work. The work began on February 15, and the classrooms were inaugurated on March 5.

The church unanimously resolved to allocate Indian Rupees 50,000 (USD 649.27) annually to Catechism Board for the payment of Teachers for the smooth functioning of the Catechism classes.
