Being ready and willing to follow Jesus

June 27, Monday, 13th Week in Ordinary Time
Amos 2:6-10, 13-16; Gospel: Mathew 8:18-22

When you decide to follow Jesus, you're making a promise to take a rugged path that requires you to put your complete trust in him

The gospel narrative recounts two distinct categories of individuals who desired to follow Jesus.

The first character, a law teacher, is an individual who wishes to follow Jesus wherever he goes.

The other individual, a disciple, is a person who wants to follow Jesus while still caring for his family and friends. However, both characters have recognized that following Jesus has a cost.

The reaction of Jesus to these people is fascinating. He stated, "Foxes have dens, and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head."

Jesus seems to challenge them with these words: "Are you honestly prepared to follow me regardless of the cost?"

Following Jesus is not a lukewarm endeavor or a "seasonal" endeavor. It is an all-encompassing commitment that may test our principles and priorities.

We believe in him as a person and promise to accept whatever his will is. This level of faith is the key to understanding what Jesus desires.

Jesus invites us to leap toward more authentic discipleship.

Are you willing to place your complete trust in the Lord? Strive to keep this resolution, which will take you to a path filled with happiness.
