Trust in God causes miracles

July 4, Monday, 14th Week in Ordinary Time
Daily readings: Hosea 2:16, 17b-18, 21-22 Gospel: Matthew 9:18-26

Regardless of our human status, God's love for us is unconditional. He requires that we have faith in Him.

We need to examine our prayer life. We have prayed often for many things with God. There are numerous instances in the Bible where God answers our prayers.

In today's Gospel, the official asks Jesus to place His hands on his dying daughter so she may be alive again. And the woman was cured of her twelve-year hemorrhage by touching the edge of Jesus’ clothes.

Though many servants and friends would come and comfort him when they heard the news of his daughter’s death, he left those settling and searched for Jesus, who could give life to his daughter. By searching for Jesus, he went to his house and took the girl by his hand; she was alive again.

Again, the woman bleeding for twelve years might fear going to public places. As a result, she may have difficulty asking Jesus for healing and touching Jesus' clothes from behind. That faith cured her sickness.

From a human perspective, the death of the official's daughter is more significant than her illness. In God's eyes, everyone is important and equal, so Jesus healed the woman on the way to the official's home.

From these incidents, God teaches us that everyone is equal in His eyes and that we must have the same faith as they do.

We should forsake our dependence on our strength, power, wealth, position, and trust in God. Our prayers will be answered if we trust totally in God.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
