United in Christ

May 25, Thursday of the 7th Week of Easter
Daily Readings: Acts 22:30, 23:6-11; Gospel: John 17:20-26

In today's Gospel reading, we hear Jesus praying for his disciples and all the believers who would come after them. This prayer is not just for unity among the disciples but for all believers to be united in Christ. He prays that they all may be one, just as he and the Father are.

Today, let us reflect on this prayer and what it means for us as Christians.

First, we must understand that Jesus' prayer for unity is not just a call for superficial agreement or compromise. Instead, it is a prayer for a profound, spiritual unity found only in Christ. This unity comes from a shared faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior, a shared commitment to follow him, and a shared love for one another.

Jesus' prayer for unity is not just for the present but also for the future. Through his message, he prays for his disciples and all who will believe in him. We are also included in this prayer for unity. As believers in Christ, we are all part of the same family and body of Christ.

Furthermore, Jesus' prayer for unity is not just for our benefit but for the world's benefit. He prays so that the world may believe that the Father sent him. When we are united in Christ, we demonstrate the love and power of God to the world. Our unity as Christians is a powerful witness to the world of the truth of the Gospel.

Remember that as Christians, we are called to be united in Christ. This unity is not just a superficial agreement but a profound spiritual unity from our shared faith in Jesus. It is a unity that is not just for our benefit but for the use of the world as well.

Let us strive to live out this unity in our daily lives, demonstrating the love and power of God to those around us.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
