When people repent, God cannot but repent!

October 07, 2025 Tuesday of the Twenty-seventh Week in Ordinary Time
Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary
Daily Readings: Jonah 3:1-10; Luke 10:38-42
Not many people receive a second chance in life, and many regret losing it when it comes. Jonah, however, made use of it. He set out immediately for Nineveh as God commanded. His preaching was so powerful that the king of Nineveh decreed a strict fast for both humans and animals, leading to widespread repentance. The king himself set an example by leaving his throne, putting on sackcloth, and repenting of his sins. God was pleased with what He saw. The Ninevites turned away from their evil ways, and out of mercy, God relented and decided not to destroy them. Jonah became convinced of God’s plan for himself and for the Ninevites, and so he preached with great commitment. The people believed in his message and repented. When people repented, God relented!
Martha and Mary, the sisters of Bethany, were also close friends of Jesus, along with their brother Lazarus. After a long and tiring day of ministry, Jesus often visited their home and stayed with His disciples. On one such visit, the sisters responded differently to His presence. Martha busied herself in the kitchen, while Mary chose to sit at the feet of the Lord, listening to Him. Martha complained to Jesus, but His reply was striking: Martha was worried and distracted by many things, while Mary chose “the better part”, silence and attentiveness at the Master’s feet. That made all the difference. When we choose God first, everything else is included; but when we choose only material well-being, God is absent. Work is important, and we must labor with commitment, but above all, we need God. Choosing God’s way means giving Him priority in all things.
Call to Action: The Holy Rosary in our hands is a powerful weapon that helps us reflect on the crucial events in the lives of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, and see how God intervened in the life of the Holy Family. Am I in love with the Rosary, and do I pray it every day?
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
