Internally Displaced Persons

A newly constructed school was inaugurated at the Catholic resettlement centre for internally displaced persons (IDPs) at V. Munpi in the north east Indian state of Manipur, marking a significant step in rebuilding the lives of families displaced by ethnic violence.

A Catholic filmmaker and philanthropist from Goa, Mr Severine Fernandes, has promised to donate a school bus to the Catholic Resettlement Centre at V. Munpi village, Churachandpur district, Manipur. He made the commitment on January 16, 2026, during his visit to the centre, which is home to Catholic internally displaced persons (IDPs) from St Joseph’s Parish, Sugnu (Singtom village), who were uprooted following ethnic violence in the state.

Amid lives marked by pain, loss, and uncertainty, yet sustained by deep faith, resilience, and hope, the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) residing at St. Joseph’s School Relief Centre, Singngat, in the northeastern State of Manipur, joyfully celebrated a Pre-Christmas programme on December 16, 2025, at the relief centre campus.

The RVA Zo Language Service joyfully celebrated RVA Day 2025 on November 15 at V. Munpi, a newly established Catholic resettlement village built by the Archdiocese of Imphal, Manipur, in northeast India.

In collaboration with Manos Unidas, the Diocesan Social Service Society (DSSS), the social service arm of the Archdiocese of Imphal, inaugurated a 60-day carpentry training program for Catholic internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Singngat area on September 24 at St. Thomas Parish, Singngat.

In a commendable effort to support internally displaced persons (IDPs) and the local community by strengthening livelihoods through skill and vocational development, the Diocesan Social Service Society (DSSS) of the Archdiocese of Imphal, in collaboration with the Italian Bishops' Conference, organized a two-day training program on sustainable agricultural practices from August 1–2, 2025, at St. Joseph’s School in Singngat.

In a significant step toward healing and rebuilding, the Catholic Church inaugurated 20 newly constructed houses on 26 July for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in St. Thomas Parish, Singngat.

As the world observed World Refugee Day, faith-based organizations united to draw global attention to the often-invisible suffering of refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in some of the world’s most troubled regions.

Myanmar’s Missionary Childhood Association organized a training program for children from IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) camps to encourage them from May 13 to 16, 2022.
