'Week of Prayer for Christian Unity'

'We need to change from our past misconceptions and values, from self to others, learn to respect each other, take the dignity and value of human nature seriously,' says a joint statement by Christian denominations in Hong Kong, at the end of the week of prayer for Christian Unity.

More than 200 leaders from different Christian denominations participated in the closing ceremony of the week of Christian Unity at Anglican Holy Trinity Cathedral in Yangon, Myanmar, on January 25.

Myanmar Council of Christian Churches (MCC) and the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Myanmar (CBCM) are having the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity from January 18 to 25.

There is nothing better than to be grounded in the words of Jesus himself, “Abide in my love... and you will bear fruit in abundance” (John 15:5).

Pope Francis opened the "Week of Prayer for Christian Unity" on Sunday, Jan 17, calling the occasion "an important day" for everyone.
