5th Talitha Kum Asia Conference Held in Jakarta

From August 26 to 30, 2025, Talitha Kum Asia held its 5th Regional Conference in Jakarta, hosted by Talitha Kum Indonesia, under the theme “Compassion in Action: End Human Trafficking.”
Talitha Kum is an international network of Catholic sisters working against human trafficking.
More than 60 representatives from 16 countries, including Catholic sisters, survivor advocates, youth leaders, and partners, gathered in prayer, dialogue, and reflection.
The conference featured testimonies of resilience, meaningful panel discussions, and renewed commitments that deepened solidarity and strengthened collective resolve to combat human trafficking in Asia and beyond.
One participant shared: “This conference provided a space for hope. Together, we reaffirmed our shared responsibility to safeguard life, restore dignity, and ensure that no one is left behind in the fight against trafficking.”
Another added: “We are grateful for this encounter of hope and unity. We move forward with renewed courage and compassion to act together for freedom and dignity.”
According to the Asian Development Bank, based in the Philippines, human trafficking continues to plague Asia. It remains a borderless crime, with men, women, and children forced into dangerous and exploitative conditions across the Asia-Pacific region.
Criminal networks profit from trafficking, but governments, faith-based organizations, and NGOs, including Talitha Kum, are actively working to resist and eradicate this modern-day slavery.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
