Caritas Bangladesh held a Safeguarding and Gender Mainstreaming Training Program at its Central Office in Dhaka from May 4 to 5, 2025.

In a significant step toward reinforcing its commitment to dignity, accountability, and safety in humanitarian work, Caritas Bangladesh hosted a two-day Safeguarding Case Management and Gender Mainstreaming training.

Designed as an intensive capacity-building program, the training brought together 16 safeguarding focal points — five men and eleven women — from eight regional offices, partner trusts, and affiliated projects across the country.

The main goal of the program was to deepen understanding and enhance the implementation of safeguarding protocols and gender-sensitive practices in the field.

The curriculum was both comprehensive and practical, including studying core safeguarding principles, establishing safe and confidential reporting mechanisms, and navigating the complexities of case management.

Real-world scenarios and interactive discussions enabled participants to explore ethical response strategies and reinforced their roles as frontline defenders of vulnerable populations.

Mr. Sebastian Rozario, Executive Director of Caritas Bangladesh, led the sessions with clarity and conviction, drawing on years of experience in humanitarian leadership.  His guidance helped frame safeguarding not just as a policy requirement but as a moral imperative embedded in the organization’s values.

“This training is not just a procedure—it’s about protecting human dignity in every action we take,” said Mr. Rozario during his opening remarks.

Participants left the program with renewed purpose and practical tools to ensure that safeguarding and gender equity are not only policies on paper but everyday practices in the communities they serve.

The initiative marked another chapter in Caritas Bangladesh’s ongoing journey to embed a culture of safety, respect, and justice across its programs.

As global standards for safeguarding continue to evolve, Caritas Bangladesh’s commitment to proactive training and staff empowerment sets a strong example for faith-based and humanitarian organizations alike.
