Bangladesh Diocese Encourages Family Rosary Prayer at Legion of Mary Seminar
A one-day seminar in the Diocese of Rajshahi in northwestern Bangladesh highlighted the importance of praying the Rosary as a family under the theme, "The Family That Prays Together Stays Together."
Organized by the Rajshahi Diocesan Holy Cross Family and Rosary Ministry, the seminar was held at Mary Queen Assumed into Heaven Church in Gopalpur on June 26.
Around 110 participants attended the program, including two priests, two religious sisters, members of the Legion of Mary, and many mothers from the parish community.
The seminar began with an opening prayer and Marian hymns, followed by a presentation and reflection on the theme by Fr. Anil Ignatius Marandi, the parish priest.
"The Rosary is our simple and daily vocal prayer," he said. "Although it consists of various prayers and repetitive recitations, it remains a profound meditative prayer."
Quoting Pope John Paul II, Fr. Marandi added, "The Rosary is the sweet chain that unites us with God."
He also recalled the well-known words of Patrick Peyton: "The family that prays together stays together."
Fr. Marandi emphasized that the Rosary is the spiritual nourishment of the family and is essential for every member. "To preserve and strengthen family life, parents and children should pray the Rosary together," he said.
As part of their spiritual preparation, the participants received the Sacrament of Reconciliation and took part in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. During his homily, Fr. Marandi said, "If you believe, then you will pray."
He also quoted Mother Teresa, saying, "The fruit of prayer is faith; the fruit of faith is love; the fruit of love is service; and the fruit of service is peace." He encouraged the faithful to pray with deep faith and trust in God.
One of the participants, Agnes Biswas, shared her testimony.
"I am a member of the Legion of Mary. I was seriously ill and suffered from paralysis, which left me unable to walk. Through the intercession of Mother Mary and by praying to God, I received healing. Now I am doing very well," she said.
She added, "I am deeply thankful to Mother Mary and to God. Every evening, my family and I pray the Holy Rosary together. My faith has become much stronger than before."
