CBCI Becomes Core Member of New National Multi-Faith Committee

The Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI), through its Office for Interreligious Dialogue and social action arm Caritas India, participated in the launch of the National Multi-Faith Action Coordination Committee (MFACC) as a core member.
The inaugural meeting was held on May 29, 2025, at Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, organized by the Global Interfaith WASH Alliance (GIWA) and UNICEF.
Fr. Dr. Anthoniraj Thumma, National Secretary of the CBCI Office for Interreligious Dialogue, and Navneet Yadav, Lead for Humanitarian Action and DRR at Caritas India, represented CBCI and pledged their full support to this visionary initiative.
The meeting took place in the distinguished presence of former President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, along with leaders from seven faith traditions and various faith-based organizations.
Guided by Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, the gathering marked a historic step in faith-based collaboration for public service.
MFACC aims to foster coordinated interfaith action across key sectors including public health, nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), child protection, education, disaster risk reduction, and climate action.
The committee will serve as a national platform for knowledge sharing, strategic planning, and joint response to social and environmental challenges—answering “the cry of the poor and the cry of the earth.”
The next MFACC meeting is scheduled to be held in Delhi, with quarterly meetings planned to review progress and plan further action.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
