Dominican Seminarians, Newly Ordained Priests Undergo Mission Immersion in Indonesia
A total of 22 seminarians and newly ordained priests from the Order of Preachers (OP), commonly known as the Dominicans, are currently participating in a mission immersion program in Indonesia.
The 13th Asia-Pacific Dominican Common Study is being held from July 13 to August 4, 2025, hosted by the Dominican Province of the Philippines.
This annual gathering brings together student friars and newly ordained priests from various provinces of the Order across the Asia-Pacific region. It serves as a time for theological reflection, intercultural exchange, and fraternity-building within the Dominican family.
This year’s participants come from Vietnam, India, Myanmar, Pakistan, China, South Korea, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The program is led by Indian Dominican Fr. Shiju Francis Thaiparambil, OP, the designated formator for the Common Study, and Pakistani Dominican Fr. Jamshed Gill, OP, Socius of the Master of the Order for Asia-Pacific.
Throughout the program, participants will travel to Jakarta, Lembang, Anjungan, and Pontianak, where they will engage in study, prayer, and immersion with the local Church and Indonesian culture.
The initiative aims to deepen their commitment to the Dominican vocation, to preach the Gospel with truth, compassion, and a spirit of communion.
The Order of Preachers was founded by Saint Dominic de Guzman (1170–1221) in 1216 in France.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ.
