India: Fr Wilfred Gregory Moras, New Coadjutor Bishop of Jhansi

Pope Francis has appointed Father Wilfred Gregory Moras (55), of Lucknow clergy, as Coadjutor Bishop of the Diocese of Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, India.

He is currently the rector of St. Joseph's Regional Seminary in the Diocese of Allahabad.

Fr. Moras was born on February 13, 1969, in Neerude, the Diocese of Mangalore. He studied philosophy and theology at St. Joseph's Regional Seminary in the Diocese of Allahabad. On April 27, 1997, the Diocese of Lucknow ordained him as a priest.

He has held the following duties and conducted further studies: He was a trainer at St. Paul's Minor Seminary in Lucknow from 1997 to 1999, Bishop's Secretary from 1999 to 2002, and Vice President of St. Ann's School in Palia from 2002 to 2003.

The priest earned a Bachelor of Studies in Missiology from the Pontifical Urban University in Rome from 2003 to 2006, served as Chairman and Director of the St. Francis School and Hostel in Nigohan from 2007 to 2008, and served as Chairman of St. Anthony’s School in Barabanki from 2008 to 2013.

From 2013 to 2016, Father Moras earned a Doctorate in Missiology from the Pontifical Urban University in Rome and served as Director of the Nav Sadhna Regional Pastoral Centre in Varana. Since 2021, he has been Rector of St. Joseph's Regional Seminary in Allahabad.
