Malaysia’s Creation Justice Commission Launches Second Phase of Ecological Campaign

ECCJMSB launches the second phase of its regional ecological campaign on the Day for Creation on September 1, 2025.

The Episcopal Commission for Creation Justice of Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei (ECCJMSB) marked the Day for Creation on 1 September with the launch of the second phase of their regional ecological campaign.

The Protect Our Earth, Protect Our Children Campaign, or PROTEC, initially ran for five years from September 2020 to August 2025.

A theme was dedicated for each year: use less electricity (2020); cut down meat, dairy, and food waste (2021); stop plastic pollution (2022); cut fuel consumption (2023); and use less paper and wood (2024). Various projects were organized by local parishes and organizations each year according to the set theme.

With the success of the campaign for the past five years, ECCJMSB has decided to go on a second phase for the next five years, dubbing it PROTEC 2.0. Regenerate! It will run until 2030.

For its first theme, which will be observed from 1 September 2025 to 31 August 2026, the commission has chosen to focus on taking care of flora and fauna.

Bishop Joseph Hii, president of ECCJMSB, said they have decided to continue the campaign to address the world’s triple planetary crisis of climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss.

“We are overshooting dangerous tipping points of no return,” he said.

“For the earth to be regenerated from the decay and destruction we have caused it, the hearts of men must first be renewed. Our own conversion of heart and liberation from sin are intertwined with the liberation and regeneration of the Earth,” he further said.

ECCJMSB “earnestly calls” on all faithful in all dioceses of Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei to participate in PROTEC 2.0.
