Jose Cardinal Advincula, Archbishop of Manila, presided over a thanksgiving Mass at the Manila Cathedral on March 17, 2026, marking the conclusion of the school year for institutions run by the Archdiocese of Manila.

In his homily, the prelate presented what he described as the “three Ps” that students should carry with them: the Power of Learning, the Presence of Jesus, and the Purpose of Serving.

Cardinal Advincula reminded students that education should not be pursued solely for personal success, but for the good of others.

“Your education becomes meaningful when it is used to serve others… Education is not only about becoming intelligent. It is about becoming a person who gives life to others,” the cardinal said.

Reflecting on the Power of Learning, he explained that every lesson contributes to the formation of one’s character.

“Each lesson may seem small, like a drop of water. But drop by drop, it becomes a river that shapes who you are,” he said.

The archbishop also stressed that studying is not only preparation for academic success, but an openness to God’s wisdom. According to him, when students study well, they allow God’s wisdom to flow into their lives so that one day they may bring life, hope, and goodness to others.

On the Presence of Jesus, the cardinal highlighted the importance of faith in the lives of students, especially in times of difficulty.

“Education becomes complete only when Jesus is present in our lives… Sometimes we may feel tired, discouraged, or unsure of ourselves… we can hear Jesus saying to us, ‘Rise,’” he said.

Under the Purpose of Serving, he encouraged students to share their knowledge and skills for the benefit of others. He reminded them that what they receive is not meant to remain with them.

“They are meant to flow outward,” he said.

Cardinal Advincula underscored that education gains true value when it becomes a means of compassion, service, and responsibility toward society. He also urged students to carry their learning not only as knowledge, but as a commitment to live with faith and purpose.

“Your education will not only make you knowledgeable, but it will make you faithful, compassionate, and ready to serve,” the cardinal added.

RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
