Radio Veritas Asia to host webinar marking 10 years of Laudato Si’

Radio Veritas Asia hosts a special webinar on May 23, 2025, to mark the 10th anniversary of Laudato Si’, uniting Asian voices for ecological awareness and action.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA) will host a special webinar on May 23 in Manila, Philippines, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ groundbreaking encyclical on care for our common home.

The topic is "Celebrating 10 Years of Laudato Si’: The Asian Voices for Our Common Home."

The event will take place at 3:00 PM (Manila Time) and is open to all those who share a passion for environmental stewardship and ecological conversion.

The webinar aims to highlight the continued relevance of Laudato Si’ in the Asian context and encourage a renewed commitment to sustainable living and ecological responsibility.

It will commence with a prayer led by Fr. Antony Swamy, SVD, coordinator of the RVA Hindi Service, setting a reflective tone for the gathering.

This will be followed by a welcome address from Fr. Victor Sadaya, CMF, general manager of RVA.

Fr. John Mi Shen, program director of Radio Veritas Asia and executive secretary of the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences (FABC)-Office of Social Communication, will open the event.

This will be followed by a keynote message from Bishop Antonio Maralit, Jr., of the San Pablo Diocese, Philippines, and Chairman of the FABC Office of Social Communication, who will offer insights into ecological conversion from pastoral and regional perspectives.

Fr. George F. Peter, chief editor of RVA, will introduce Ms. Cheryl Dugan, director for Asia Pacific of the Laudato Si’ Movement.

Following the keynote address, Dugan will deliver a special talk titled “The Role of Social Communicators in Asia Pacific Ecological Conversion.”

Her presentation will highlight the vital role of the Asia-Pacific region in advancing ecological sustainability, climate action, and integral human development.

She will explore three key areas: the ecological challenges facing the region, the Church’s ongoing efforts to address these issues, and a call to action for social communicators to become active agents of ecological conversion.

Another key moment in the program will be the launch of the official Laudato Si’ website, presented by Fr. Anbu Selvam of the RVA editorial board.

Arlene Donarber, RVA's assistant program director, will then unveil the official song for the Laudato Si' Campaign 2025.

Attendees will also witness the premiere of the music video for the campaign song, “Stewards of Creation,” composed by Mark Anthony Cuevas, Philippines.

Looking ahead, Fr. Mi Shen will share details of upcoming initiatives and programs under the Laudato Si’ campaign, reinforcing RVA’s commitment to ecological education and action.

The event will conclude with a final prayer and blessing from Bishop Maralit, underscoring the spiritual foundation of ecological stewardship and renewing the call to act in faith and solidarity for the care of our common home.

The webinar is more than a celebration—it is a call to action. Participants will reflect on the core themes of Laudato Si’, explore current environmental challenges, and be inspired to take concrete steps toward sustainability in their communities.

Radio Veritas Asia invites all to join this meaningful gathering and stand together in the mission to protect and cherish our planet, our common home.
