Asia-Wide Webinar to Mark 10 Years of Laudato Si’, Looks Ahead to COP30

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Laudato Si’, a special Asia-wide webinar titled “A Decade of Laudato Si’: Pope Francis’ Prophetic Legacy, and the Road to COP30” will be held on May 29,  2025.

The online gathering aims to celebrate Pope Francis’ groundbreaking encyclicals Laudato Si’ and Laudate Deum, and to reflect on how the Church in Asia has embraced the call to care for our common home. Participants will also explore the path forward as the global community prepares for COP30.

The event will feature insights from Church leaders, indigenous representatives, youth, and grassroots advocates from across Asia and the Pacific.

The webinar will take place on 29 May 2025, at 2:30 PM (Mumbai) | 4:00 PM (Jakarta) | 5:00 PM (Manila) | 6:00 PM (Korea/Dili) | 7:00 PM (Sydney) | 9:00 PM (Fiji).

The webinar will be hosted by Jacqui Rémond of the Australian Catholic University and Br. Sunil Britto, CFC, and will feature reflections from Church leaders and grassroots voices across Asia and the Pacific.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Bishop Allwyn D’Silva, Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences

  • Theresa Ardler, a Gweagal Aboriginal woman of the Eora Nation, Australia

  • Fr. Warren Puno, director of Ecology Ministry, Diocese of Lucena, Philippines

  • Sr. Vicentia HK, Religious of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Indonesia

  • Lucrecia Nessi, a young Catholic leader from Timor Leste

Together, they will share insights and experiences inspired by Laudato Si’ and Laudate Deum, and help chart the way forward toward COP30.
