Indian Catholic environmentalist among Trailblazer Woman Awards 2024 recipients

An Indian Catholic social worker and environmentalist was among the recipients of the 8th TCJ Excellence Awards 2025 in Mumbai, western India.
Deepika Singh was the Gold Awardee for being a trailblazer woman for education and the environment.
The awarding ceremony was held on May 1, 2025, in Mumbai, the financial hub of India.
Singh has been the coordinator at the Climate Change Desk (CCD) of the Federation of Bishops’ Conferences (FABC) in South Asia since 2016.
She has worked in the development field for about 35 years. She is passionate about "greening" as a climate change solution seeker and experiment developer, especially working with college youth and various ecosystem-based communities—both urban and rural.
She conceived the idea of a "green audit" of institutional campuses in collaboration with Enviro Tech, Pune. She has been the lead team member in conducting 15 green audits of various education campuses in Mumbai and Pune.
She is an expert in designing theme-based workshops, seminars, and internships for general and corporate staff on request.
She participated in the national-level beauty pageant "Jewels of India 2024," organized by Nari First, on the Cordelia Cruise. She took part in another beauty pageant, the Ms. & Mrs. Vogue Star 2024, and was crowned as "Ms. Virtutes" on the ramp at the Fashion Week organized by VogueStar in April 2024.
Fashion, modeling, and entertainment have provided her with a refreshing experience.
She considers creating awareness, mobilizing, and generating passion among people, faith communities, and youth for environmentally friendly living.
It is her passion and desire to promote the culture of love and be loved by "Mother Nature.”
In the past, Singh designed and conducted two major conferences—Laudato Si and Christian Business, a Maharashtra-level Conference with about 95 Christina Business Dignitaries and the South Asian Regional Conference on Climate Change Impacts on the Vulnerable Groups and Women’s Perspectives on 42 South Asian Participants comprising of bishops, priests, directors and secretaries of Regional Women’s commissions, youth leaders and grassroots leaders who were concerned about climate change and environmental degradation and who announced a Statement at the end of the conference making appropriate commitments to further the course of combating climate change and promoting Eco-friendly living, to further the mission of Pope Francis to care and protect the environment.
She has also worked as an advisory board member at the Bombay Archdiocesan Environment Desk since 2013.
Singh has been a visiting lecturer at St. Andrew’s College of Arts and Commerce, Bandra, Mumbai, since 2008.
She has been the South Asia Consultant at the Swiss League of Catholic Women (SLCW) since 2002.
“Working as a consultant for SLCW has been a tremendous learning and enriching experience, interacting with about 50 partners. Being part of their journey has been a wonderful experience,” she says.
