At a recent gathering in Manila, Philippines, Sister Neusa de Fatima Mariano, Superior General (SG) of the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo, Scalabrinians (MSCS), encouraged members to embrace the current times with openness, hospitality, and a renewed commitment to their consecrated life.

"We are invited to live this time with openness, hospitality, and listening to God’s call in our congregational history, with the firm will make this meeting a privileged space for sharing," Sister Mariano emphasized during the opening of the assembly.

She highlighted the importance of dialogue, coexistence, celebration, reflection, study, and communal discernment, noting that these practices are essential to recalling the true purpose of consecrated life.

These elements, according to Mariano, promote the common good of the congregation and animate the formation of its members, helping maintain a balance across the various dimensions of their consecrated lives.

During the gathering, Fr. Paulo Prigol, CS, and sociologist Marla Asis provided insights into the Asian context with a presentation titled "The Synodal Church in Asia in Mission: Convergences, Issues to Consider, and Clarifications."

The meeting, inspired by the motto "Prophecy, Dreams, and Visions," derived wisdom from the prophet Joel 3:1, introduced by Sr. Elizangela Chaves Dias through a Lectio Divina.

On August 2 and 3, speakers Ms. Estela Padilla and Jessica Joy Candelario presented the theme "Walking with Hope in the Synodal Dynamic."

The program also includes sharing experiences, analyzing trends, preparing for the XV General Chapter, and reflecting on specific themes.

New initiatives based on the Final Document of the X General Assembly are being introduced, along with discussions on projects to be consolidated and commitments related to the "four joys": the joy of following Jesus Christ, the joy of walking with migrants and refugees, the joy of prophesying, and the joy of living in sharing.

The meeting is also expected to address internal reorganization within the congregation, progress in studying legislation concerning the 'Causa Vitae' in each country, and other pertinent issues.

Founded in Italy in 1895 by Bishop Saint John Baptist Scalabrini, with co-founders venerable Father Joseph Marchetti and Blessed Assunta Marchetti, the congregation continues its mission today.

The Manila meeting, running from August 1 to 11, brings together the Superior General's council, provincial superiors, councilors, and the delegate superior of Asia and their councilors

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
