Telugu Language Service Celebrates RVA Day 2025
The Telugu Language Service of Radio Veritas Asia (RVA) celebrated its Audience Day with a vibrant gathering of faith, culture, and community at St. Theresa’s Church, Eluru, Andhra Pradesh.
Held on October 12, the celebration brought together more than 150 participants. The event was supported by young volunteers who also guided newcomers in connecting to RVA’s social media platforms.
Now in its 48th year, RVA’s Telugu Service has been a vital bridge between the Catholic Church and the Telugu-speaking faithful since its first broadcast in 1977.
The highlight of the day was the Eucharistic celebration, presided over Bishop Polimera Jayarao, of Eluru and Chairman of Amruthavani Communications Centre and RVA Telugu Service, together with 14 priests from the diocese.
In his homily, Bishop Jayarao expressed his appreciation for RVA’s mission, saying, “Because of the media, the world has become a global village. I am grateful to Radio Veritas Asia and other media for helping to enhance our way of life.”
A key focus of the celebration was the promotion of RVA’s digital platforms, including its website and social media channels. With a growing digital audience, the transition to online platforms has expanded RVA’s reach and made its content more accessible to the faithful.
Participants were also informed about the International Short Film-Making Competition announced by Radio Veritas Asia on the theme “Environmental Advocacy in Asia: Translating the Vision of Laudato Si’ into Care for Our Common Home.” The competition aims to encourage creative storytelling that inspires ecological awareness and action across Asia.
Following the Mass, organizers emphasized that RVA Day is more than an annual celebration, it is a moment of encounter and listening, an opportunity to understand the needs of RVA’s audience, strengthen their faith, and affirm their collaboration with the service in their respective dioceses.
The event was organized by Fr. Pappula Sudhakar Rao, Coordinator of the Telugu Service, along with three online producers.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
