Vietnamese Service of Radio Veritas Asia Holds Annual Retreat

The Vietnamese Service of RVA holds annual retreat at Our Lady of Bai Dau Pilgrimage Center, Ba Ria, on July 26–27, 2025.

The Vietnamese Service of Radio Veritas Asia (RVA) gathered for its annual retreat at the Our Lady of Bai Dau Pilgrimage Center in the Diocese of Ba Ria on July 26 and 27, 2025.

The retreat aimed to strengthen fraternal bonds, deepen mutual understanding, and build unity among the members of the Vietnamese Service.

Present at the retreat were Father John Baptist Tran Thanh The, O.P., Coordinator of the Vietnamese Service; guest priests; staff members (producers and talents); and volunteers.

The retreat opened with a Holy Mass on the evening of July 26 at the chapel of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul. It was presided over by Fr. John The.

In his homily, Father Joseph Nguyen Tien Dung, O.P., encouraged participants to cherish the Lord’s Prayer, the prayer that Jesus Himself taught. He reminded everyone to treasure moments of prayer in daily life, especially during times of trial in the journey of faith. More importantly, he emphasized that those involved in the Vietnamese Service should not only meditate on and write about faith, but also live out the words they proclaim, particularly the call to love and mercy found in the prayer: “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”

Following dinner, participants joined a session of sharing and prayer led by Fr. John The. He underscored the sacred ministry entrusted to each member through their collaboration in the weekly Vietnamese Sunday Mass. Though simple and humble, this mission plays a vital role in the celebration of the Eucharist.

Fr. John The encouraged everyone to approach their roles, proclaiming the Word, assisting in the liturgy, leading prayers, playing instruments, conducting the choir, and preparing for the liturgy, with love for God and a deep desire to spread His Word and glorify His name.

The priest’s reflections were followed by personal sharing and heartfelt prayers from the participants, fostering a spirit of communion and devotion.

The retreat concluded on the afternoon of July 27 with a pilgrimage to Our Lady of Bai Dau Pilgrimage Center and Christ the King Mountain in Tao Phung.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
