Church holds sapling planting drive in south India

A Catholic Church in south India recently conducted a “sapling planting drive program.”
 
Holy Redeemer Church, Rajamahendravaram of Archdiocese of Visakhapatnam in East Godavari district organized the program to create awareness of care for the earth. 
 
About 75 people participated in this program.

“Nature is God’s most beautiful creation and we have a responsibility to care for it,” says the priest. 
 
The priest brought different saplings including Azadirachta indica, commonly known as neem or nimtree, or Indian lilac, and Saraca asoca. 
 
The parishioners and youth took part in the drive enthusiastically and helped each other in planting the saplings.
 
Father Manoj Kumar made an effort to encourage people to care about the environment.
 
The Catholic population of the parish is about 1200. It has eight sub-stations. The church was built in 1902, according to the sources. -With inputs from Kranthi Swaaroop Muddada / RVA Telugu
