Catholic children in Myanmar prayed the rosary for world peace via zoom on Ash Wednesday on March 2.

Holy Childhood Commission led the online event at the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Myanmar (CBCM) located in Sanchaung Township in Yangon.

Msgr. Maurice Nyunt Wai, Bishop-elect of Mawlamyaing diocese, delivered a short talk to the participants.

“Praying for the peace of the world is a “MUST.” Rosary is the best weapon for the peace in Myanmar and the world,” Msgr. Nyunt Wai said.

Father Benardino Ne Ne, National Director for Pontifical Mission Society, led the recitation of the rosary and delivered the Lenten message of Pope Francis.

The online rosary was streamed live through the Facebook pages of CBCM OSC and Yangon Archdiocesan OSC.

Salesian Sister Agatha explained to the participants the special intention of praying the rosary, including Pope Francis’ intention to pray for peace between Russia and Ukraine.

Over 28 zoom screens lit up, no counting groups of children and family members sitting in front of the screen.

One of the online facilitators, Pyone Pyone Aung, thanked God for the successful recitation of the rosary via zoom.

“I am grateful to God for the successful event of praying the rosary for the peace of Myanmar and the world done online by children from Catechism class,” Pyone Pyone Aung said.

Pyone Aung gave thanks to Msgr. Nyunt Wai for joining with the children to pray online.
