Philippine laity council holds virtual ‘walk for life’

The Council of the Laity of the Philippines (Sangguniang Laiko ng Pilipinas) will hold a virtual “Walk for Life.”   It promotes the value of life and family through a noble sacrifice towards a developed Philippine nation. The purpose of the event is to defend marriage, family and encourage the culture of life.   On February 26, 2022, the event will be from 9:00 am - 10:30 am (local time) via Zoom and Facebook Live.

 The Council of the Laity of the Philippines (Sangguniang Laiko ng Pilipinas) will hold a virtual “Walk for Life.”

It promotes the value of life and family through a noble sacrifice towards a developed Philippine nation. The purpose of the event is to defend marriage, family and encourage the culture of life.

On February 26, 2022, the event will be from 9:00 am - 10:30 am (local time) via Zoom and Facebook Live.

The Council is a lay arm of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) Episcopal on the Laity.

“We will ‘walk for life’ because we believe that our country needs good and capable leaders in government who have the political will to serve our country, promote the common good and offer a better life for all,” said Raymond Daniel H. Cruz, Jr, national president of CBCP-Sangguniang Laiko ng Pilipinas.

The advocacy signifies the laity’s commitment to choosing life in various manifestations and expressions.

“It is our Christian duty and calling, and this is our contribution toward social transformation,” said Cruz.

The theme chosen for the occasion is “Halalang Marangal Tungo sa Pag-angat ng BUHAY” (honorable elections towards the upliftment of life. 

“This slogan is in response to the signs of the times as our country is facing a critical moment in its history, particularly the forthcoming national election, the results of which will largely determine the quality of life of its people,” explained Cruz.

The Philippines will hold its national and local elections on May 9, 2022.
