The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said it was "perplexed" by the case filed by former election chair Harriet Demetriou against Fr. Winston Cabading, a local media outfit reported.
"The Ramon Magsaysay Award is focusing on three things: inspiring our global audience through the lives and work of our Magsaysay Laureates; interconnecting them with the next generation of leaders in Asia, and igniting action through creative collaborations with like-hearted partners,"said d Susanna B. Afan, president of the foundation.
"When I won the National Book Award for Social Sciences in 2013, I thought I got so lucky, and perhaps that was the only time I could win this book award. So, winning again in a different category—theology and spirituality- is very affirming," said Brother Karl M. Gaspar.
"We are badly needing huge trees like Acacia Trees because of the damaging effects of global warming and climate change. The cutting of four huge Acacia Trees is a big loss not only for this generation but for many generations to come," said Bishop Uy.
"Let us resist the temptation of self-absorption. May we not be simply concerned with self-preservation. Rather, let us look at the needs of others as our own," said Bishop Rex Andrew Alarcon, chairman of the CBCP Episcopal Commission on Youth.
"Everyone is welcome as we pray and stand in solidarity for Christians around the world being persecuted for their faith in Jesus Christ," said Msgr. Gerardo Santos, ACN Philippines’ chief operating officer.
