May 7, Tuesday of the Sixth Week of Easter
Daily Readings: Acts 16:22-34; John 16:5-11

Despite facing beatings and imprisonment, Paul and Silas remain faithful to God. As they praised God inside the prison, a strong earthquake shook the place and opened all the doors. Given the command to watch them diligently, the jailer was so terrified that he considered suicide, believing all the prisoners had fled. But Paul told him not to harm himself because everyone was still inside the prison. This incident opened the jailer's eyes, leading him to believe in God and be baptized along with his family. Unexpectedly, God reveals his power to convert people.

In the Gospel reading, Jesus explained to his disciples that he needed to go back to the Father, and they would not see him again, for if he did not go, he could not send the Paraclete to them. And when Paraclete arrives, he will convict the world of sin, justice, and judgment.

How would you feel if a loved one told you that you would no longer see me? If you received this message with an unpleasant feeling, you might think this is a premonition. Some people who believe they are dying prepare their loved ones emotionally and psychologically.

My uncle, who recently passed away, left us with fond memories and, most importantly, made sure his family was ready for his departure.

Call to Action for Catholic Living: Even though our loved ones have left us, we are not alone. Jesus promised to accompany us, just as he also assured the disciples that he would send the Paraclete to guide them.

Lord, grant us the ability to be ready at all times. Amen!

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
