To love God and your neighbor is the greatest commandment of all. Purity of intention and sincerity of heart are the keys to blessing those who fear the Lord. We can hear, foresee, and listen to this in the prayer of Tobiah, who says: "Lord, you know that I take this wife of mine not because of lust, but for a noble purpose."
And we know what happened to them next. A good act can become bad just because of the intention, just as an evil act can change its nature because it aims for a good choice.
Think of those selfie pictures taken while donating to people experiencing poverty and being acknowledged publicly as the primary sponsor. Remember that only God knows the sincerity of hearts and the purity of minds.
Christian Catholics must make a difference in a world where fakes—fake news, fake love, fake interests, and fake images—are pervasive by demonstrating their sincerity in their love and worship of God. The real fear of God starts with awareness of the presence of God, who sees and knows everything.
