God reveals Himself in His creation!
November 14, 2025 Friday of the Thirty-second Week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: Wisdom 13:1-9; Luke 17:26-37
God reveals Himself in His creation. The author of the Book of Wisdom says, “For from the greatness and beauty of created things comes a corresponding perception of their Creator” (Wisdom 13:5). Yet some people go astray while seeking God. They are misled by their perceptions and trust only in what appears to them. The author wonders how these people could make mistakes when they possess such “power to know so much that they could investigate the world” (Wisdom 13:9). Jesus, too, condemned His contemporaries, who were able to read the weather conditions but were unable to recognize the Son of God present among them (cf. Matthew 16:3: “You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times”).
The Parousia, or Second Coming of the Lord, is certain to happen, but when will it occur? This question has long troubled many. Jesus gives a hint, using the examples of Noah and Lot. Both were caught unawares, Noah when the flood came, and Lot when fire and sulphur rained down. The people, busy eating and drinking, lost their lives. The Son of Man will come suddenly and unexpectedly. Noah and Lot followed God’s instructions, while Lot’s wife became a victim of unwanted curiosity. Jesus further challenges His listeners: those who are selfish and self-centred will lose their lives, while the selfless and sacrificial will be saved. The cryptic and powerful metaphor of corpses and vultures indicates that nothing can be hidden, our actions reveal our true intentions. Believers, therefore, must remain constantly vigilant, live detached from material possessions, and focus on spiritual growth and internal transformation.
Call to Action: Preparedness at all times is a unique virtue. Procrastination is a sign of self-destruction. If I can do something today, why should I postpone it?
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
