December 8, Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Readings: Genesis 3:9–15, 20; Ephesians 1:3-6, 11–12; Luke 1:26-38

We celebrate the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception!

Mother Mary, the first and faithful disciple of God, helps us in our journey of discipleship.

The feast of the Immaculate Conception reminds us of three things about our journey of faith.

Our birth has a mission. Our birth has a similar purpose as Mother Mary's, which was predestined to bring the Redeemer into the world. Our purpose is to actively support God's world plan. God picked us as instruments, so we should justify that. In light of this, we should consider our life mission today.

Our faith demands a response. We must respond faithfully. Mother Mary explains this duty. We emulate Mary, the first disciple's "yes." Adam and Eve created clean, disobeyed God, and wrecked his dream. God reactivated His purpose for humanity through Jesus Christ after Mary said yes. Our ‘yes’ in faith should be like Mary’s.

There is a reward for our faith. Mother Mary shares in heaven's splendor since she constantly lived for God. Mother Mary is not the only one with this privilege. God kindly gave such a gift to everyone. We think that if we are faithful to God as Mother Mary, we will be promoted to that condition. The hope of such a prize should motivate our discipleship.

Let us pray that we may imitate Mary’s model to reach Jesus!

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
